Started in 1978, Ducktrap River of Maine is a smokehouse located on the coast of Maine with a strong commitment to producing premium quality smoked seafood.  Ducktrap sources premium-grade seafood, uses traditional smoking techniques and combines the natural flavor of custom brining recipes with the savory smoke from local apple, cherry, maple and oak woods. Ducktrap’s wide variety of smoked items including Atlantic Salmon, Wild Sockeye, Rainbow Trout, Wild Mackerel and Shellfish, along with several other quality products, accommodate customers’ needs for diversity on menus and in retail cases.

Summary

 The 3^rd Shift Smokeroom Operator will perform a variety of different tasks throughout the shift which include, loading and operating the kilns, filling smoke producers with wood chips, completing  product smoking and cleaning records,  break-down of products from screens into totes, cleaning and sanitizing smokeroom floors and equipment, satin shining kilns.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to lift 60lbs.
• Required to stand, bend, twist, push and lift throughout the shift.
• Must wear proper “PPE” including smock, hair net, apron, cutting glove, rubber gloves and boots.
• Must learn and maintain knowledge of the entire product line and specifications.

• Must fill out appropriate paper work both clearly and accurately.
• Must be able to follow safe work and sanitation standards.
• Must be flexible in both work assignments and hours worked.
• Must be willing to train to operate kilns.   
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be detail oriented with good organizational, prioritization and communication skills.
• Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Must be dependable.
• Must follow company policies and SOP’s.
• Must be commitment to the Mowi code of conduct and vision and values

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on textured concrete floors for a minimum of eight hours. He/she will be using their arms, hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach product. There is also, a lot of pinch gripping. Noise level in work environment is usually moderate. He/she is required to use proper PPE, (Personal Protective Equipment) appropriately to prevent injury to self or others. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
